Covid Update – Nationwide Lockdown

Dear Sir/Madam,

Salt EB is committed to assisting South Africa stop the spread of COVID-19. This pandemic is
unprecedented and we are working hard to provide stability to our clients during these uncertain times. The President said tonight that our resolve, our resourcefulness and our unity as a nation will be tested in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Salt EB is committed to continue providing its services and to work together with our clients to ensure continued service for our members. In order to meet this objective, Salt EB has been preparing for worst case i.e. nation-wide lockdown and after the President’s announcement this evening can confirm the following:

  • Salt EB offices will be closed to all visitors effective Friday, 27 March 2020.
  • Salt EB set up a Covid-19 committee shortly after the first case was announced in South Africa and this committee was tasked with ensuring business continuity in addition to measures already in place – specifically related to this pandemic. Phase one saw the committee identify and migrate selected staff members across all business units to work from home. We have to date successfully enabled 70 core staff members across the full spectrum of administrative functions. We have stress tested their capability to work remotely at their homes in a bid to ensure continuity in the event a nationwide lockdown is instituted.
  • We are implementing phase 2 immediately, which will enable the rest of the staff complement to work from home and can therefore confirm ongoing operational capacity.
  • We are committed to remain operational and continue to service our clients and members during this uncertain period.
  • Communication for claims and other processes will be distributed to all clients during the course of this week to ensure members, employers and other stakeholders are aware of the mediums which can be utilized to engage with Salt EB.
